Inbjudan av talare till konferensen "Hydrogeological Aspects of deep drilling", Uppsala University, 20-22 september, 2011 _______________________________________________________
Tidsperiod: 2012-01-01 till 2012-12-31
Projektledare: Auli Niemi
Budget: 113 000 SEK
This application concerns the international workshop ´Hydrogeological Aspects of Deep Drilling´ to be held September 20-22 at Earth Science Centrum, Uppsala. Deep drilling projects worldwide have often been dominated by studies concerning the geological and geophysical processes and the geochemical composition of the deep underground. Hydrogeological processes have received relatively less attention. Yet many of the important chemical, thermal and mechanical processes of the deep underground are closely linked and cannot be properly addressed without an understanding of fluid migration. Presently, intended to be part of the International Continental Drilling Program (ICDP), a deep drilling project is under preparation on the Swedish Caledonides (www.sddp.se/cosc) with the objective to address, among other things, issues related to fluid migration. Partly prompted by the aforementioned project, partly by the desire to compile the existing knowledge, the objective of this workshop is to give an overview of the state-of-the-art of hydrogeological studies of deep systems, both from the point of view of available observations and data, and from the point of view of modeling and generic conceptual considerations. Information on the workshop is found on:http://www.geo.uu.se/ and at: http://www.icdp-online.org/front_content.php?client=29&lang=28&idcat=309&idart=3130&m=&s= The results of the workshop will be published as a part of a special issue of a high-level international journal.
