Beskrivning

INCULTUM (https://incultum.eu/) aims to demonstrate the high potential of the marginal and peripheral places, cultural heritage and resources when managed by local communities and stakeholders. In the Uppsala University (UU) team, pilot 10: Escape into the Archipelago Landscape, the focus is on innovative ways to understand visitors, their interests and spatiotemporal behaviour, and to integrate obtained insights in participatory workshops with local stakeholders. Three research areas were selected: Gotland, Roslagen, and Torsö in Vänern. The project contributes with an innovative mixed method to understand the spatiotemporal movements and the interactions between the visitors, the visited community, and the cultural heritage. The UU team has developed a model for collecting mobility data among tourists combined with background information and data on destination experience, using mobile phone data, GPS-loggers, questionnaires, and website visits. The project provides insights into behaviour and factors impacting tourist engagement, as well as the exposure of different areas.
