Tending Tourism – a transformative research approach for regenerative tourism

Informed by the mechanistic worldview and growthism, hegemonic tourism (development) is untenable. For this reason, we need alternative approaches to tourism (development) informed by radically different paradigms and concepts. Such alternative approaches can be enabled through transformative research approaches. In my PhD project, the alternative approach of regenerative tourism is in focus. Through a co-creation process, I explore together with a local community on Gotland what this concept can mean in their specific context.
