In the new year, the first phase of SweDeliver reaches its goal and discussions are already underway about the national competence center's future development. This week, industrial partner AstraZeneca invited the leaders of the three Work Packages and the visit provided valuable guidance for the upcoming work.

“We went there to identify areas with potential for further development, and on this occasion paid close attention to modelling, artificial intelligence and biopharmaceutics. To me, the talks were both constructive and rewarding for all parties and I look forward to continued discussions,” states Göran Frenning, Professor of Pharmaceutical physics at Uppsala University.

The program also included presentations of the ongoing projects in SweDeliver's three Work Packages, where Per Larsson spoke about Toward double-digit bioavailability: An overview of beyond rule-of-five oral drug delivery research within SweDeliver ,Göran Frenning lectured on From inhalation powders to powder mechanics and Per Hansson on Parenteral delivery: Controlled release and targeting, with focus on subcutaneous administration of protein drugs.

“We provided an overview of the status of the various projects, which was received with great interest. My overall feeling is that we, during our first years, have laid a very solid foundation for what we currently call “SweDeliver 2.0” and that there is every reason to look forward to a continued positive development,” concludes Göran Frenning.
