Research at Erken Laboratory

Research at the Erken Laboratory focuses on the long-term monitoring of water quality, climate effects on aquatic systems, circulation of nutrients, and population and community dynamics in lakes.

For visiting researchers, we offer:

  • Data from an extensive environmental monitoring program for Lake Erken, including both manual and high-frequency automatic measurements. The monitoring programme includes measurements of physical and chemical parameters, phytoplankton, and greenhouse gas fluxes. Go to the Lake monitoring programme
  • Possibilities for the implementation of experiments (e.g. mesocosms), for example using the SITES AquaNet mesocosm infrastructure
  • Technical expertise for sensor based measurements
  • Help with sampling and measurements in lake Erken as well as surrounding lakes
  • Services of an accredited laboratory for water and sediment sampling and analysis and for phytoplankton and zooplankton determination. Go to Analytical services
