Study environment

Campus Ångström

Both teaching and research in mathematics take place at the Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala University's largest campus. Here, research is conducted at the forefront of a broad field of science, technology, mathematics and computer science. As a student, you have access to student areas in close proximity to the research environments and the department, which makes it easy for you to get in touch with your teachers.

We are committed to making you feel at home...

The programme has a good and inclusive study social environment where everyone is welcome. The student association Möbius regularly organises social activities and gives you study tips. The Department of Mathematics has been actively working on equal opportunities issues for students and staff for many years. For female students, there is a network during the study period, which works both with girls on the programme and with all students on issues relating to equal treatment and gender equality. We organise coffee breaks, girls‘ breakfasts and girls’ evenings with the department's female students and staff.

and succeed in your studies!

Our teachers are all researchers in the Department of Mathematics and are committed to teaching. You can always discuss and get help from them. Success in maths studies requires a great deal of independent work individually and, preferably, with others.

At the Maths Support Service, you can get help from an experienced student to solve problems and understand theory for all basic level courses. You can ask questions about everything from the simplest maths to the really difficult problems. Maths support is available during term time Monday-Thursday, 17.15-19.00 and before revision weeks for re-examination periods.

The department's study advisors Clara and Kibret offer you support and guidance in matters relating to your studies, study situation and your future career.

If you need special support due to a long-term disability, you can apply for targeted pedagogical support, which is coordinated by Teknat Student Services

Welcome weeks

The Student Associations organise two Welcome Weeks for new students. There are a variety of different activities, all voluntary of course, but there is usually something to suit everyone. It is an appreciated introduction which will make you acquainted with the beautiful city of Uppsala, and give you a great opportunity to make new friends!
