General Research Methodology: Design and Analysis

Syllabus

Goal

After completing the course the student should be able to:

  • Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses both of experimental and non-experimental research designs
  • Discuss the central concepts in theory of science and elaborate on psychology based on the theory of science including research ethics
  • Evaluate the usefulness of various multi- and univariate statistical analyses and apply them using statistical software

Content

The course is divided into three parts:

1. Research methods focusing on experimental and quasi-experimental designs; 2. Theory of science including research ethics; 3. Statistics, including theoretical analysis and use of statistical software for central statistical methods like analysis of variance, regression analysis, factor analysis, and structural equation modeling.

Teaching

Teaching is given in the form of lectures, seminars and exercises. Teaching can be given in English.

Examination

The examination consists of written tests and assignments. In addition, active participation in seminars and exercises is required.

Grading: Passed or not passed.
