Institute for Russian and Eurasian Studies and Uppsala University's fundraising gratefully accept gifts and donations.

Your support is of great importance for Uppsala University to be able to achieve its lofty ambitions for the future.

In Sweden, research and higher education has a long tradition of being funded by the government. However, in recent years there has been a shift toward more varied financing, via foundations, EU research grants, and the like.

To bolster its position as an outstanding research university in Sweden and in the world, Uppsala University needs new sources of funds. Today more than half of research is paid for by external grants won in competition with other institutions.

Donations have thereby become a significant complement to public financing and in many cases are crucial to the continuation of successful operations in several fields. Many urgent projects and key research pursued today have been initiated thanks to beneficent donors projects that are vital not only to the development of Uppsala University but also to the development and growth of society in general.

The University's fundraising activities aim to link needs to means. Attractive projects are developed for our donors to invest in research projects, professorial chairs, research positions, construction projects, or stewardship of important cultural treasures.
