Overdue books and claims

  • You are responsible for keeping track of your loans and returning them on time. You can see loan periods and whether you have a claim on books in My Loans.
  • As a service, the Library sends reminders and other messages. Unfortunately, we have no control over whether the messages actually reach you (due to spam filters, security updates, address changes, the postal service and so on). We would like to emphasise that you are always required to return or renew on time, regardless of whether you receive a notice from us or not.
  • If you do not return a course book on time, you will incur an overdue fee of 10 SEK per day until the maximum amount of 200 SEK is reached. This also applies to fast loans, movies, and video games. For other media, you will incur an overdue fee of 2 SEK day until the maximum amount of 50 SEK is reached.
You are welcome to pay by cash, debit card or Swish at the information desk on the second floor.

Replacement of lost material

  • You are responsible for covering the cost of materials you have lost. The cost is 300 SEK for books for adults.
  • The cost for lost or damaged interlibrary loans is determined by the lending library and may vary.
  • You are welcome to pay by cash, debit card or Swish at the information desk on the second floor.

Create a library account for Almedalen Library

  • Books that are already on loan can be reserved in the Almedalen Library's Search Tool.
  • By logging in to My Loans, you can see your place in the queue and when requested material is available for collection. You will also receive an email or text message when the book is available for you.
  • Reservations cannot be placed on course books that are not on loan. If the book is available at Almedalen Library, you are welcome to visit the Library to borrow it. Books are loaned on a first come, first served basis. We do not set aside course books for borrowers.
  • Books that are located in closed stacks can be requested for pickup at Almedalen Library. You can do this by either requesting the book in the Almedalen Library's Search Tool or asking a librarian.

  • If the material is available in an open stack, you are welcome to collect it yourself.
  • If you have reserved material, you will receive an email when you can borrow it. You can also see this in My Loans. The message you receive when the book is available for pick-up states the latest date you can pick up the book. It is important to know that books remain on the pick-up shelf for seven days before they are passed on to another borrower or returned to their shelf.
  • We do not deliver books to anyone's place of residence..

  • Register the loan at a machine for loans or at an information desk. To log in to the machines, use your social security number or library card number and a PIN code. If you have forgotten your PIN code, you can create a new one in My Loans.
  • If you are picking up a book for someone else, you need to show both your own and the borrower's ID.

  • You can make up to three renewals of your books provided that no one else has reserved the same book. You can do this by logging in to My Loans.
  • You cannot renew loans yourself if they have already been renewed three times, but you can contact Almedalen Library to ask if an additional renewal is possible.
