Energy efficiency and negative emissions

Using the energy we have more efficiently is at least as important as increasing the supply of fossil-free energy. Statistics from the Swedish Energy Agency show that 40 per cent of the total amount of energy used in Sweden goes to the industrial sector, 40 per cent to the residential and service sector, and 20 per cent to the transport sector. One third of this energy is transmitted by electricity and the rest is brought by district heating or comes directly from fossil fuels and biofuels. Uppsala University conducts research on negative emissions as well as on energy efficiency in the built environment and industry.
