Energy efficiency

Research on energy efficiency at Uppsala University extends to many different areas. For example, researchers are investigating how to build housing for greater energy efficiency and exploring smart materials that reduce energy use in one way or another. They are finding ways to cut energy losses in motors through fuel additives that reduce friction. They are studying the potential of completely new magnetocaloric materials to create more energy-efficient cooling technology, and using chromogenic materials to regulate the amount of light admitted by windows.
