The diagnosis groups are locally organized in both Uppsala and Umeå and their main task is to develop and maintain U-CANs routines for the collection of samples and data. The diagnosis groups also review research applications within their respective areas and are tasked with leaving a decision recommendation to the Program Board. If a diagnosis area has diagnosis groups at both the Uppsala and Umeå sites, the two groups work in close collaboration.

A diagnosis group must consist of at least five members that all share an interest in running and mainitaining the collection of samples and data according to the U-CAN model:

  • One surgeon or equivalent
  • One oncologist
  • One pathologist
  • One translational cancer researcher
  • One reseasch nurse

Apart from these set roles and members, the diagnosis group may freely include other clinicians and/or researchers in order to gain special competences and/or increase the interest in maintaining the work and driving the research forward.
