Wallenberg Clinical Scholars

The aim of the program is to strengthen Swedish clinical research by means of identifying the best clinical researchers, providing them with good conditions to undertake their work, and facilitate the impact of research results in the scientific and healthcare communities.

According to the KAW regulations, the universities can, within the framework of their and the healthcare provider's research strategy, nominate researchers of varying seniority. A minimum level is that the person, in addition development potential, has an independent position, leads her/his own research group and has significant scientific production of the highest international quality.

The nominated researcher has to be employed and active in clinical practice (at least 30% of full time). At the time of nomination, the person has to have completed (or are undergoing) their specialist training in the clinical subject.
