October 15th 12.00-13.00
How can we create a culture of engagement in higher education? Students as change agents before, during and after an examination-focused partnership.

How can university teachers and students collaborate in order to revise an existing course? During this seminar, chemistry teachers Antonia Kotronia and Marcus Lundberg present a student-staff partnership project together with their former students Victor Hellgren och Susanna Olsson. The seminar explores the relationship between the outcome of a student-teacher partnership and a culture of student influence and engagement discussing examination as an area where formal power is often distant from the actual partnership.

The evaluation of the project revealed that the students involved emphasized their ability to make meaningful change, while the students taking the revised course appreciated the implemented changes. Thus, a culture of engagement positively affected the outcome of the partnership, while the partnership itself empowered students in their roles as change agents.

The seminar will be held in English.
