Project Funding with a Focus on Active Student Participation

Project funding is being announced for teachers and teacher teams who, in collaboration with students and in an innovative spirit, aim to develop education within their local subject areas.

This call for proposals aims to stimulate active student participation in education across all three Disciplinary Domains at the university. Active student participation entails students and teachers collaborating as a team to enhance education. In previous projects at Uppsala University and internationally, teachers and students in partnership have, for example:

  • Elaborated on and clarified course objectives and syllabi
  • Created new student-led teaching elements
  • Identified specific challenges for students in a course, such as examination formats, and further developed them
  • Discussed and established grading criteria
  • Renewed and broadened the content of courses and reading lists for courses

For more concrete examples and tips on conducting partnership projects, consult the tips and examples.

The following basic requirements must be met to be eligible for funding:

  • Planning, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of the project must be done in partnership between teachers and students.
  • The project must be based on a clear pedagogical idea for improving education.
  • The project must offer genuine opportunities for students to be involved in and contribute to it based on their perspective, knowledge, and experiences.

Call for Proposals and Application

A total of 700,000 SEK is being announced for this initiative. The maximum amount that each project can apply for is 100,000 SEK. Of the requested amount, between 33-50% should be allocated to finance student participation in the project. The remaining share can finance teachers' time and any necessary expenses. The evaluation panel will strive to grant funds with as broad a distribution as possible across the Disciplinary Domains, however without compromising the quality requirements.
