The figure shows the results of a Swedish Public Employment Service program aimed at 140 newly arrived immigrants with low education in the municipality of Gothenburg 2017–2018.Half of the total of 140 people were randomly allocated into a treatment group that was offered intensified support. The municipality, the Swedish Public Employment Service and a municipal housing company worked together to provide participants with language training, work practice and job search assistance.

The figure shows that after approximately 10 months, those who had been offered an intervention begin to enter employment. After 14 months, more than 30 per cent of those who have been offered the intervention have employment, compared with 15 per cent of those in the comparison group. After two years, about twice as many of the individuals who were offered support had employment compared with those who participated in the Swedish Public Employment Service's traditional program.
