Rabee Adel – Assistant Professor

Rabee Adel completed his research internship within U-CARE as part of his PhD programme at the Unversity of Lleida, Spain. Following the completion of his PhD, he got a position as an Assistant Professor in Health Management and Informatics at Almoosa College of Health Science, Saudi Arabia.

Rabee Adel conducted his research internship within U-CARE during three months in the fall of 2022. At that time, he was a PhD student at the University of Lleida in Catalonia, Spain. Rabee was mostly involved in two research projects during his internship: one of the projects dealt with e-mental health support for informal caregivers of persons with kidney disease, and the other focused on coping strategies for persons who have suffered a stroke. He was involved in writing drafts of research articles in both projects.

Rabee is filled with joy when speaking about his internship.

Why did you apply to do your internship within U-CARE?

– I chose to apply for an internship within U-CARE because of the research group’s expertise in e-Health research. My PhD project was focused on evaluating the effectiveness of e-Health technologies, so U-CARE seemed to be a perfect match for me. I’ve also studied at Uppsala University and the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health before, so I was familiar with Uppsala.

What aspects of your internship did you find most rewarding?

– The best part was that I got the opportunity to work on two publications within the area of my research interest. That made me improve my understanding of doing research, especially in areas such as public contribution and interview analysis. I’m also happy that I got the opportunity to participate in research seminars, about for example public contribution in research.

What has been the impact of your internship?

– The internship resulted in that I gained new knowledge and improved my skills in research methods. It enabled me to do research with a new perspective. I have benefited from that both during my PhD project and in my current position as an assistant professor. I also expanded my research network, which I think will be valuable for future research collaborations.
