Research within U-CARE

Joanne Woodford handleder

With our research, we want to develop psychological support that can complement what the healthcare system offers today. We do this by, for example, developing, testing, and evaluating online self-help programmes aimed at persons with experience of physical illness and their loved ones.

Public contribution in research is a central part of our research and operations. We conduct research together with, for example, people with lived experience of physical illness, their loved ones, healthcare professionals, and other important societal actors. This approach contributes to us being able to formulate relevant research questions, as well as increasing the benefit of our research.

We also specialize in healthcare research methodology with the overall goal to ‘Improving health by improving healthcare trials’. For example, in order to help overcome common difficulties with recruitment and retention in clinical trials, we utilize Studies Within A Trial (SWAT) methodology to build an evidence base on recruitment and retention into trials within healthcare sciences.

Today, we lead several national and international research projects. The overall goal of our research is to improve the health and well-being for people with experience of physical illness, and their loved ones, while at the same time we strive to reduce costs for individuals and society.
