Zebrafish as a model to study chemical interaction with metabolic functions

Environmental pollution is found everywhere in our environment, such as in home, school and work environments, or in nature. Recently, it has been noted that certain toxins can interfere with the development of humans and animals in a way that leads to disrupted metabolism (metabolism). The development of organs and physiological functions is controlled via networks of molecular signaling pathways. One of the functions established early in life is the regulation of the body's metabolism. It is very important that the body's cells have access to the energy they need in different situations. In our research we try to understand how hormone disrupting substances and other anthropogenic chemicals can interfere with the development of this. We use zebrafish embryos and fry to investigate mechanisms of how chemicals affect the development of adipose tissue.
