Freestanding courses

Undergraduate courses cover the economic history of primarily Western Europe and Sweden from the industrial revolution to the present, dealing with themes such as globalisation, the development of financial markets, and the reasons for and effects of economic crises.

Advanced/Master's level offers a Master's programme in Social Sciences, but also a number of freestanding courses with national admission. A new international Master's programme in Politcal Economy and Sustainabilit is due to start autumn 2026.

Advanced level courses offer a chance to deal in depth with these and related areas of economic history. Much emphasis is placed on helping students develop their skills in oral and written presentation, and advanced level students are expected to write undergraduate theses

Master's programme in Social Sciences

The department of Economic History offers a two-year Master's programme in Social Sciences where Economic History is one of the specialisations (in Swedish). The specialisation offered fully in English on this programme to international students is Digital Media and Society.
