Research Human-Computer Interaction

Today, every level of society is shaped by the infusion of information technology. In the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) group at the Department of Informatics and Media, we look specifically into how everyday life, culture and play, and our own bodies, are shaped by information and communication technology (ICT). The group combines critical and feminist perspectives with constructive design research, creating a research environment that is capable of innovation as well as in-depth reflection.

The group focuses specifically on the use of technology in everyday situations, with a focus on mobile technologies, wearables, and public space. Our focus themes include:

• Playful interactions, for example design for children's outdoor play
• Health technologies, for example technologies for movement-based training
• Digitization of physical space, for example design processes for hybrid museum experiences
• Digitization of personal life, for example how people approach fertility control and family planning
• Existential questions in and through technologies, when spatial social rituals move online

The HCI group at informatics and media participates in the Swedish network for PhD courses in Human-Computer Interaction.
