Research Information Systems

The research in Information Systems at Uppsala University is devoted to the scientific study of the use and development of IT based information systems, including the interaction between systems, developers, users, business, and society.

Currently represented research directions include: social media, open innovation, open source, green IT, knowledge systems, software engineering, transport systems, information infrastructures, conceptual modelling, e-health, and information systems development methodology.

Information Systems research uses a variety of research methods. Although much of the research is design oriented and aimed at constructing and evaluating innovative uses of IT, some research questions require analytical and mathematically based approaches as well as qualitative and quantitative empirical methods. Most of the research is highly applied and performed in collaboration with industrial partners and other stakeholders.
