Certificates and Grading

A certificate will be issued for the entire period that you have spent at the Faculty of Law in Uppsala. In the certificate, all courses are specified with credit value (points) and grade. Courses taken will be noted with the Swedish grading system and also in the ECTS grading system.

The certificate together with the course descriptions in the course catalogue are intended to provide your home university with the information needed on how to handle your Swedish study results when including them in the degree at your home university.

U – Fail

Facilitating scale for the transfer of grades

The ECTS scale uses the letters A to E to indicate passing grades, which superficially resembles the North American grading scales. However, it should be noted that the ECTS grades have higher values: thus, also the grade E is a passing grade.

Your home university can probably provide you with a translation of their grading scale into the ECTS scale, which provides an approximate indication of the Swedish grade's correspondence to your own university's system.
