SweDeliver has selected the five highly promising master's students who will have the opportunity to do a summer internship within the competence center’s industrial network. We teamed up with Alice Fors at Uppsala University’s Master of Science Programme in Pharmacy who is looking forward to six weeks of frontline research at Disruptive Pharma.

In the summer of 2024, SweDeliver is once again opening its doors for master's students to do a six-week research internship at one of the national competence center’s eighteen industrial partners. For the company, it means an extra resource in an ongoing project. For the student, it is a unique opportunity to gain important industrial experience and to create new networks in the world of pharmacy.

“With my great interest in drug development research and several previous summer jobs with a focus on analytical chemistry, I am ready to take on a more independent laboratory project. The fact that I have also studied courses on biologicals has increased my interest in galenic pharmacy, and since the SweDeliver internships are conducted in industrial environments, I am looking forward to a highly valuable experience,” says Alice Fors, student at Uppsala University’s Master of Science Programme in Pharmacy.

SweDeliver's investment in summer internships is one of many strategic initiatives aiming to strengthen students' involvement in the SweDeliver research areas, thus, expanding the platforms for future recruitments of PhD students and exam workers. It is also a way for the center to contribute to increased mobility between academia and industry.

“Our internship program is receiving exclusively positive feedback from both industry and master's students, and interest in these openigns intensifies each year. This spring, we had the pleasant challenge to choose between an amazing number of talented and qualified applicants, and have now selected five dedicated interns who are ready to work hard to contribute to and learn more about ongoing research in drug delivery,” states Caroline Fronczak Alvebratt , Project coordinator at Uppsala University's Department of Pharmacy.

Alice Fors will do her summer internship at Disruptive Pharma, an Uppsala-based company that develops drug products to enable novel therapies for the benefit of patients. This is made possible by Disruptive Pharma’s unique nanoporous drug delivery technology, that enables amorphous stabilisation of drugs, proprietary formulations and improved performance.

“I will work with a focus on powder mixing, tableting and disintegration studies, which will increase my knowledge of applying galenic pharmacy, running research projects and industrial scientific processes. Something I hope will in turn give me inspiration to choose the right path after graduation, where a PhD Student position or an international trainee program is currently on top of my list,” says Alice Fors.
