The BDC Study

Budget and debt counselling (BDC) is a municipal service that by law must be provided by every municipality. The Swedish Consumer Agency is responsible for guiding and supporting the services in their work. However, the services can be very different from municipality to municipality, and the work can be organized in different ways.

In this study we want to study budget and debt counselling in Sweden. The purpose is to study what the incentives and opportunities look like for working with non-emergency/preventive counselling. This will be done through a questionnaire to all counsellors in the country and content analysis of documentation for the activities.
