About us

Health Services Research originates from North America, where it was established as a subject in the 1960s as a result of an increased interest in the functioning of healthcare systems, as well as an integration between science and policy at the time. Health Services Research on Wikipedia.

In Sweden, healthcare is studied at different sites, but Uppsala university holds the only Chair Professor position of the subject. Currently, studies about multi-level governance, integrated care and patient and public involvement is conducted. The group also interacts and cooperates with researchers and policymakers nationally and internationally. Several of the groups’ researchers are involved in the research program WELMARKS.
