Description

Parenting Young Children (PYC) is a parent support programme that aims to offer parents with cognitive difficulties a customised parenting support. PYC aims to strengthen the parents’ interactions and care for their children.

Forte granted funds (5.9 million) for an evaluation of PYC and both quantitative and qualitative data collection is ongoing within the scope of the project. The project is ongoing until the end of 2025. Within the scope of the research project, the following is studied:

  • Quantitative evaluation of PYC’s effect on parenting capabilities and children’s health
  • Qualitative evaluation of the parents’ experience of PYC through interviews the parents received with the parenting support.
  • Qualitative evaluation of children’s perspective on their family situation through child interviews.

The research group consists of researchers from various universities in Sweden with experience of the target group both in clinical work and in research context.
