HR Excellence in Research

HR Excellence in Research is a seal of quality awarded to Uppsala University in February 2019.

Uppsala University’s most important asset are all the members of staff who together make the University one of the 100 best universities in the world. We strive to be an attractive employer for researchers and since February 2019 have been certified with the HR Excellence in Research quality label.

What certification means

The certification means that Uppsala University is a higher education institution that meets the EU’s demanding standards for responsible and professional employers and that we are committed to continuous quality assurance based on the European Commission’s Charter and Code for Researchers.

Uppsala University’s approach is based on the European Commission’s Charter and Code for Researchers. This consists of 40 principles that are intended to:

  • improve conditions for research freedom
  • promote an open labour market for researchers
  • facilitate access to and the exchange of knowledge.

If you are a researcher at Uppsala University or wish to become a researcher here, this means you can be confident that the University will comply with the Charter in the following areas:

  • ethical principles and professional responsibility
  • recruitment
  • working conditions
  • research training, continuing professional development and career development
