Future/Present: Current Practices in Pop Music Studies
Konferens i Uppsala 19-20 juni 2018
Denna konferens, som arrangeras av institutionen för musikvetenskap, Uppsala universitet, är tänkt som en arena för nuvarande praktiker inom området popmusikforskning. Den syftar till att utforska teoretiska och metodologiska utvecklingar över vetenskapsgränser, att kartlägga framtida riktningar och att främja ytterligare diskurs och samarbeten inom detta studieområde. Konferensen är uppbyggd kring tre forskningsområden: aktuella metodologiska ansatser och popmusikanalys; aktuellt epistemologiskt och teoretiskt arbete; såväl som aktuella estetiska, tekniska och ljudtekniska utvecklingar inom popmusik.
Konferensen syftar till att främja populärmusikstudier både inom Sverige, de nordiska länderna och internationellt och att stärka nationella och internationella nätverk inom detta tvärvetenskapliga ämnesområde. Detta mål återspeglas av valet av huvudtalare: Professor Anne Danielsen (Universitetet i Oslo) samt docent Robin James (UNC Charlotte, North Carolina, USA) är två ledande forskare inom området, vilka har stimulerat studiet av popmusik genom visionära metodologiska och teoretiska perspektiv.
Konferensen arrangeras med ekonomiskt stöd av Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
