U-CARE's PhD candidates Oscar Blomberg and Frida Svedin each gave a poster presentation at the Nordic Congress of Gerontology, which was organized in Stockholm 12-14 June under the theme 'Ageing in a transforming world'. They presented studies from their PhD projects which are part of the research project INVOLVERA, aiming to develop and adapt a support programme for people with dementia.

Oscar Blomberg held a poster presentation about the first study in his doctoral project that explores the needs and preferences of people with dementia, their informal caregivers, healthcare professionals, and patient organisations in order to adapt the support programme to the Swedish context.

Frida Svedin presented the results of a study in which the researchers investigated healthcare professionals’ and voluntary organisations’ views on barriers and facilitators for implementing the support programme in Sweden.

About the support programme

The INVOLVERA support programme offers guided self-help with workbooks focusing on behavioural activation. In the support programme, an informal caregiver supports the person with dementia working with the workbook. INVOLVERA has been developed in England, and is now being further developed and adapted to the Swedish context.
