The research on information practices, participation and information literacies at the department focuses on the information practices of individuals and groups in different contexts from the Internet, social media and videogames to partly and completely non-digital ones in work and leisure. In the context of these information practices, the research is also interested in how learning of competences and information practices is conceptualised as media and information literacy and literacies. Thematically the studies range from children’s and youngsters’ library use and management of online content to scholarly and scientific information practices, health and participatory memory work with cultural heritage.
