MIMA

The MIMA research group works on questions revolving around the intertwined complexes of memory and materiality during the period 1650–1850. Our research interests concern, for example, how the past is remembered, how historiography is created, and how memories are culturally represented, communicated, stored, and mediated. One important aspect within many of the research projects at hand in this group is that memories are also produced through and with materiality, such as the material book and memory institutions. The group builds on a long research tradition within the Department of Literature at Uppsala University, where in the last four decades a strong competence in the field of literature and rhetoric from 1650–1850 has developed.
