Nuclear Structure

The research of the Nuclear Structure Group in Uppsala concerns studies of the structure of exotic nuclei far from the beta-stability line.

AGATA with 24 HPGe crystals

AGATA with 24 HPGe crystals in the setup at GANIL. (Spring 2015)

Examples of some of our current research projects are investigations of the structure of excited states of nuclei in the vicinity of the doubly magic nucleus 100Sn and the doubly mid-shell nucleus 170Dy. We perform experiments mainly at the European accelerator facilities GANIL in France, LNL-INFN in Italy and at GSI in Germany. The main instruments used in the experiments are the gamma-ray spectrometer AGATA and the neutron detector arrays Neutron Wall and NEDA.
