The Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD)

The Southern African-Nordic Centre (SANORD) is a network that includes more than 30 member universities in Scandinavia and southern Africa.

Purpose

The purpose of the network is multidimensional:

  • promote collaboration
  • support member universities in meeting global and local needs.
  • be a forum for academics and higher education leaders
  • facilitate the development of joint projects
  • serve as a source of information
  • serve as a way to engage with contemporary societal issues

Current Opportunities

The University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa is hosting the SANORD Conference 2024 themed “Social and Epistemic Justice: Imagining Sustainable Futures through Agency” from December 4th to 6th, 2024.

The SANORD 2024 Conference aims to bring together scholars, researchers, practitioners and students to explore a wide range of research, approaches and practices in the role of higher education in the promotion of global justice and equity through solidarity and partnerships.

The submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations, symposia, roundtable discussions, panel discussions, and workshops from a range of perspectives and disciplines is open until 31 July 2024, 23:59.
