Guide to logging in with a browser - TOTP.

Note

TOTP (Time-based One Time Password) is a secure way to verify your identity via multi-factor authentication. in this instance, you'll need is a a browser with an addon.

Step 1

Start by downloading and installing the "Authenticator" browser extension from https://authenticator.cc

Step 2

Log in to konto.weblogin.uu.se and navigate to the heading "Multi-factor authentication."

Step 3

Press the "Activate/Create New Key" button.

Step 4

Tap the icon to scan QR code in the browser extension:

Step 5

Mark the QR code using the snipping tool. Then enter the 6-digit code presented in the browser extension under the QR code on the web page.

Please note that it may take up to 2 minutes before you can enter the code in the window under “Enter the app’s verification code to activate the key”. If you cannot enter the code, wait a little while and try again.

Step 6

Now you'll find your MFA-codes by clicking the icon:

The Authenticator window with the MFA code.

The MFA-code is valid for 30 seconds, after which it is replaced by a new code.

Step 7

When your key is ready, you will receive an email confirming that a new key has been created.

Your key generates a 6-digit code that you then use when logging into the desired service.

Note that the code is regenrerated after 30 seconds. If your code does not work when logging in, it may be because the time has expired. If so, try again with the new code.

Have you lost your MFA key for your account?

When you have activated multi-factor authentication for your account, you are required to log in with multi-factor authentication when you want to make changes to your account on uu.se/konto.

If you have lost the key, you can always log in to uu.se/konto using your BankID app, which provides equivalent security to multi-factor authentication. If you don't have BankID, you can get help at one of the university's reception desks to restore your account.

Have you lost your MFA key for SharePoint Online?
