Sustainability on campus

At the Ångström laboratory, we work actively with environmental issues. At each institution there is an environmental representative who ensures that environmental work is pushed forward in their unit. As support and inspiration for the environmental work at the Ångström laboratory, we have Uppsala University's environmental plan and climate guide.

University-wide environmental efforts

We share some environmental efforts that are ongoing at the Ångström laboratory with all Uppsala University campuses:

  • There is only recycling furniture, no bins where waste is mixed.
  • The cleaning service only uses environmentally friendly cleaning agents.
  • The building has demand-controlled ventilation and lighting (installation in progress).
  • The restaurant and café always offer a vegetarian lunch option.

The Ångström laboratory's local environmental efforts

The Ångström laboratory's campus management also runs environmental initiatives locally:

  • Energy saving by turning off comfort ventilation in parts of the Ångström laboratory during summer and other longer holidays.
  • Prevention of short car journeys between campuses by offering loan bicycles free of charge to staff.
  • Reuse of furniture, curtains, technology and more instead of new purchases as far as possible.
  • Ongoing collaboration with "Miljögruppen", the UTN - Environmental Group at the Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science, regarding environmental issues.

Get involved

If you want to get involved in environmental issues, you should contact the Environmental Group, "Miljögruppen" at UTN, the Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science.

You are also always welcome to contact the campus management if you have suggestions and ideas on how our campus can become more environmentally friendly!
