Solar cells that can be manufactured using simple and cheap methods.

Our research in solar cells

Solar cells have had a major breakthrough in society in the last 5-10 years, when the market has grown by as much as 50% per year. Silicon solar cells are the ones that dominate today. We are researching alternative solar cells that can be manufactured using simpler and cheaper methods. In part, it applies to the so-called Grätzel cells, where molecular dyes are attached to very thin and porous layers of cheap semiconductor materials. In part, it applies to Perovskite materials, which have recently had a research breakthrough as efficient converters of solar energy on a lab scale. We also do fundamental studies of molecular mechanisms in solar cell systems in order to understand their function in detail and to be able to develop cells that convert solar energy more efficiently through new physical concepts.
