Today she works as Head of Sustainability at the H&M group, which means that she and her team are responsible for setting the direction and driving all sustainability work within the group.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

On a typical day, I work together with different parts of my team and other business functions within the organization to set direction, drive or execute different key areas of our sustainability strategy. This could be deciding on a renewable energy strategy within our own business, setting targets for what we will do over the next year or meeting with different business functions that need support or knowledge on how best to work with sustainability from their perspective. My role also includes external assignments, such as participating in seminars and panels or meeting with the media, investors or other organizations interested in our sustainability work.

What was your first job after graduation?

My first job after graduation was as a departmental secretary at the Ministry of Finance.

How has your economics degree at Uppsala University helped you in your career?

In general, the most important lessons from my studies have been the ability to take in and analyze information and based on that be able to draw conclusions and think strategically. When it comes to economics, it has given me a good general knowledge of many of the macroeconomic conditions in which the industry and the company I work for operate.

Why did you choose to study economics at Uppsala University?

It had a good reputation, high level of teachers and many opportunities for internships and work experience.

What is your best memory from your time at Uppsala University?

After more than five years in Uppsala, it's hard to choose one. But going home with some of your best friends at dawn after a day of celebrating Valborg is definitely one.

What advice would you give to current and future students of economics?

Choose with your heart. Focus on what you enjoy and have a passion for, that way you will have fun every day at work. And don't forget to have fun while you study. Working life is long but student life is short.
