"A typical working week consists of a couple of days of meetings in the OECD committees, and the rest of the days preparing for meetings, reporting back from meetings, or doing administrative work”

What was your first job after graduation?

I worked for a short period in the International Development Cooperation Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a team assistant, in the same team where I did my internship.

How has your economics degree at Uppsala University helped you in your career?

My education has given me strong analytical tools that are applicable in many different workplaces. I also feel that I have gained a broad understanding of economic policy which has helped me in understanding different policy issues, both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the OECD.

Why did you choose to study economics at Uppsala University?

I have always been interested in politics and economics, and I chose an education that would provide me with analytical and practical knowledge as well as an overall understanding of the economic system.

What is your best memory from your time at Uppsala University?

It's hard to choose one memory, but it was very fun to participate in various events organized by UPS (Uppsala Politices Studerande), not least the “inspark”.

What advice would you give to current and future students of economics?

I would advise students to find a specialty area of interest and focus on this in their choice of courses, internship and thesis. There are many exciting things that fall under the economics umbrella, it's not just interest rates and graphs.
