The nuclear safeguards research area currently comprises the following four research projects:

• Machine learning in nuclear safeguards
• Nuclear safeguards verifications before encapsulation of spent nuclear fuel
• Nuclear safeguards using Cherenkov light
• Safeguards and instrumentation for Generation IV energy systems
