Using mobile and fixed phones

Here you can find information about landline extensions, mobile extensions and standalone mobile subscriptions.

Mobile subscriptions

regarding:

  • Mobile extension, MEX*
  • Standalone mobile subscriptions

* In foreign countries, the switchboard connection ceases to work for outgoing calls. However, you remain reachable through both your extension and mobile number. When making outgoing calls, your mobile number will be displayed to the person you are calling.

Pricing for Calls, Messages, and Mobile Data:

The prices for calls, messages, and mobile data depend on the country, region, or zone you are traveling to. Upon arriving in a foreign country and connecting to a mobile operator, you will receive a message from your home operator with information about the prices and conditions for that specific country.
You can also obtain this information in advance by sending an text (SMS) to the number 10615 and specifying the country you plan to travel to. You will then receive a message with the corresponding information as you would get arriving to the destination country.

RLAH (Roam Like at Home):

RLAH represents the EU's roaming rules, which allow you to use your mobile phone in another EU/EEA country without incurring additional roaming charges. This means that during periodic trips within the EU/EEA, you can make calls, send messages, and use mobile data at the same rates as in your home country. However, operators may impose limitations if your usage deviates from normal usage.

Your current phone plan also includes specific countries/regions outside the EU/EEA where you can use mobile data without incurring additional costs beyond subscription fees.

The table below lists countries and fees.

Cost Cap for Data Usage During Abroad Stays

As a safeguard against high expenses, all operators operating within the EU/EEA implement a cost cap on how much you can spend on data usage during your stay abroad. The level of this cost cap is 1000 SEK/month (excluding VAT). You will be notified via text (SMS) when 80% of the cost is reached. The network will be shut down when 100% is reached, and no further data traffic can be sent or received. You can still make calls and send text (SMS) messages. This applies to all countries/regions not included in the table above.

It is possible to temporarily raise the cost cap; however, such a change must be requested by someone responsible for finances, telecommunications, or their equivalent, via IT support.

Using your mobile phone when traveling by boat or airplane within the EU/EEA

When traveling by boat or airplane within the EU, you can use your mobile phone at no extra cost as long as you are connected to a terrestrial mobile network. If the traffic goes through satellite systems instead, EU rules do not apply, and you must pay for roaming traffic, where the prices (SEK/MB) often are high.

To check messages in your voicemail or to change settings, dial the following number from your mobile phone:

  • Mobile Extension (MEX): 888
  • Standalone Mobile: 888
  • If you are calling from a different phone number, dial +46 708 222 888 and follow the instructions.

Changing Your PIN Code

It is important to change the PIN code (password) for your voicemail. You should use 6-7 digits that you can remember. When you call your voicemail from your mobile phone within Sweden, you do not need to enter the PIN code to listen to messages, etc. However, when you are abroad or want to check messages from a different phone number, you must enter the PIN code.

To change the PIN code, dial the following number from your mobile phone:

  • Mobile Extension (MEX): 886
  • Standalone Mobile: 886

If you have activated voicemail, you will be prompted to enter a new PIN code. It should consist of 6-7 digits. If you have not activated voicemail, you will receive a message that your voicemail is not active, and you cannot change the PIN code.

Fixed phone

Internal call, you only dial the four-digit extension. For example, 4400 to get in contact with IT support.

External call, first dial 00 to connect to an external line, and then the number you want to call. For example, 00 08162000 to call Stockholm University.
