Art decorations in Uppsala University's premises

In the past, works from Uppsala University's art collection have been available for art decoration assignments.

Unfortunately, it is no longer a mission for the art collection to provide this opportunity. The art collection belongs to the Gustavianum, Uppsala University Museum, the museum has received new operational goals, set by the Uppsala University Management Team. The art collection is now made available to students, university employees, researchers and visitors in the Art Study Room in the Main University building, as well as in the museum building after the renovation has been completed.

A large part of the art collection is located in different premises within the university - e.g. in the University Main Building. But unfortunatley, we are very limited to undertake new art decoration assignments.

Instead, departments at Uppsala University have the oppurtointy to contact the Public Art Agency Sweden for new commissions.

A consultant from the Art Agency presents an art collection in dialogue with the department. Depending on the scope of the art collection, the selected works are usually in place after 6 – 12 months. The department is then responsible for handing over images and location information about the artworks to Uppsala University's art collections.

Borrowing art from the Art Agency is free of charge. However, the department is responsible for incidental costs.
