What happens with your email when you leave?

You are responsible for handing over all emails that you have received and that should be dealt with, but which have not yet been dealt with, to your immediate supervisor when you end your employment at Uppsala University.

Email messages in mailboxes belonging to an account that has been inactive for four years are deleted.

The person in charge of the catalogue at the department where you are active will remove you as an active associate at the department, and the email address related to your position will be discontinued.

What does this mean?

Unless you are active at another department at Uppsala University and are listed in the catalogue there, the following applies:

In connection with your removal from the catalogue by the person in charge of the catalogue, a standard out-of-office message will be posted for the email address. This out-of-office message will be in place for 150 days.

If you are active at another department at Uppsala University and are listed in the catalogue there, the following applies:

If you have a position with another department at Uppsala University, the person in charge of the catalogue can post an automatic response and forwarding that is not activated. This means: The email address that was connected with the department where you were active is discontinued. No automatic responses or forwarding will be sent; instead a return message will be posted stating that the address is incorrect.
